It was coming, it was indeed expected. The new AC Milan management, led by CEO Giorgio Furlani, have made their first big slip-up on the mercato. We’re not talking about the Tonali-Newcastle move, which is a different topic, but rather the Marcus Thuram negotiations and the last-minute hijack of Inter.
Let’s make one thing clear before proceeding; Inter have reached an agreement with Thuram at around €6-6.5m per year. There is likely some sort of sign-on fee involved as well, which makes it a very hefty operation financially speaking, and one that would be best to avoid for Milan.
