Checking in with financial expert Felice Raimondo about Milan [Bonus article]
Sandro Tonali’s sale to Newcastle sparked a still-ongoing debate among the AC Milan fans regarding the financial side of things. Was the offer too good to reject? Or could the Rossoneri have gone about their business without the sale? We checked in with financial expert Felice Raimondo to discuss the situation.
The sale came as a shock to many, given that Tonali was supposed to be the one player to stay for his entire career. Enough about that, though, the farewell sparked a separate but equally important discussion about how Milan should be run from a financial point of view.
Newcastle paid a total of €70m, or at least in the neighbourhood of that, to secure the services of Tonali and it goes without saying that the Rossoneri can make many moves on the mercato with that kind of money. On the other hand, one could question if the midfielder should have been considered unsellable.
As mentioned in the intro, we sat down with the lawyer and financial expert Felice Raimondo to discuss the matter, as well as the current financial state of Milan. Raimondo also runs his own Substack and although his content is in Italian, we advise you all to check it out (there is google translate, after all!).
