Complicated times [Bonus article]

These are complicated times for AC Milan. The defeat in the derby significantly decreased the optimism that had emerged from the first three games, and by the time the Rossoneri drew Newcastle, most fans were just tired. The win against Hellas Verona, therefore, was absolutely essential - no matter how scrappy it was.

If this had been a few years back, when the schedule was far more reasonable across the competitions, this would have been considered a very disappointing run of form for Milan. Now, however, we must constantly remind ourselves that these three games were played in the space of seven (!) days. By every definition of the word, it’s insane.
