Explaining Milan Futuro's promotion play-offs chances [Bonus Article]
At the start of the season, many of us were hoping that Milan Futuro would be able to fight for direct promotion to make their Serie D spell as short as possible. Now, however, full focus is on what can only be described as an extremely complicated promotion play-offs. Let’s find out how it works together.
It would be fair to say that Milan Futuro’s relegation to Serie D was ridiculed by many. It’s simply par for the course when you are operating under such a strong brand, but the big ambitions of the management (not to mention the money invested) didn’t exactly help keep the failure under the radar. Nevertheless, the Rossoneri quickly pivoted and all things considered, they did so well.
Immediately after the relegation, the management went on a campaign to highlight how the league tier doesn’t actually matter to their project. The most important thing is that the youngsters get to play against adults, as has become the motto, and it’s hard to argue against that. I mean, there are definitely benefits to being in Serie C instead, but I can buy into the notion that the overall project doesn’t change drastically.
Either way, those of you who have followed the team this season will know that it’s been a decent campaign so far. However, while direct promotion seemed like the clear target at the start of the season, attention has now shifted to reaching the promotion play-offs (positions 2 to 5). It’s a way of getting back to Serie C, but as you will find out, there are many significant roadblocks to reaching the final destination.
