In addition to Milan’s situation, he also spoke about Serie A in general, the stadium issues in Italy and Ibrahimovic’s role.
The plan for Milan is clear
Cardinale has been very clear about his plan for Milan, ever since the start really. He did take a step back in the first year of his ownership as a strategic move not to ‘come in all guns blazing American-style’, in his words. Given just how much he spent to acquire the club from Elliott Management, that is commendable in itself. He’s evidently not as foolish as, say, Todd Boehly!
He has made a lot of changes, there is no doubt about that, but most of them have ultimately benefitted the club. The sale of Sandro Tonali turned out better than we ever could have expected, not just because of the midfielder's ban but also because of the signings made with the money. The verdict is still out on Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara for some, but specific examples are not as interesting as the overall strategy behind these.
