What a start to the season it has been for AC Milan. Three games, three wins and eight goals scored. The defence, which was the main worry during the summer, has conceded just two goals and both were rather fortunate for the opponents. With all of this in mind, is anyone else a bit surprised?
The summer was a roller coaster overall, from the sacking of Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara to the goodbye of Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Giorgio Furlani and his team worked with great patience and determination, though, slowly but steadily getting the operations done for the Rossoneri. In the end, they brought in 10 players and parted ways with 14.
We all know the talent of this team and the players that have arrived, but even though it’s a key ingredient of success it doesn’t always pan out. What’s to say that these players will perform in Stefano Pioli’s new system? Indeed, an acclimatisation period was to be expected at the start of this season, but the truth is that we haven’t seen much of it.
