Jimenez seizes opportunity as Milan have clear plan [Bonus Article]
Despite losing the friendly against Roma by five goals to two, there were a few positives to take from the game for AC Milan. Tijjani Reijnders displaying great form ahead of the Euros, Theo Hernandez scoring an absolute rocket and, above all, Alex Jimenez taking the opportunity to impress the Rossoneri management. Indeed, the Spaniard was one of the standouts of the game.
Jimenez joined Milan on an initial loan deal from Real Madrid ahead of the season, with great expectations as soon as he signed. He was touted as one of the best players in the Bernabeu side’s academy back then and only left because he had a fallout with some of the figures in the club. The Rossoneri immediately pounced on the opportunity to get his signature.
The formula ended up being a loan with an option to buy at €4.5m, which in hindsight sounds like a very low figure, and Antonio D’Ottavio was the main advocate of the deal. The sporting director had been following Jimenez with great interest for a long time, previously working as the head of the Rossoneri’s youth sector, so he didn’t hesitate to pull the trigger.
