Kalulu or Kjaer? Who should be Milan's third-choice centre-back [Bonus article]
DerbyWeek™ is underway and the build-up to the game, annoyingly revolving around the international break, has raised some questions for AC Milan. The most interesting, perhaps, is the centre-back dilemma and more specifically which player should be the third choice. Pierre Kalulu or Simon Kjaer?
Fikayo Tomori was sent off against Roma and will thus miss out on the exciting derby this Saturday. A blow for Milan, even if the Englishman has had both good and bad moments at the back so far. The fans immediately started to discuss who should replace him, with both Kalulu and Kjaer in the running, and thus also touched on who should be the third choice moving forward.
Kalulu’s potential injury aside, which will be examined tomorrow (Tuesday), the decision depends entirely on the opponents. And not necessarily the quality of the opponents either, but rather the overall attacking tactics. Because the two centre-backs in question are very different players (which, by the way, isn’t a negative for Stefano Pioli).
