Loan Watch: Nasti's consistency pursuit and negative trends [Bonus article]
The second edition of Loan Watch is here! Another month (and a bit more) has passed and it’s time to take a look at the AC Milan loanees once again. We covered the details of the loan moves in the first edition, so if you haven’t read that yet, check it out here. But for now, let’s dive in!
Fode Ballo-Toure (Fulham)
The left-back had made just one appearance for his new club when we published the first edition, but it was a promising display from him. It’s a bit surprising, therefore, that he’s yet to feature in the Premier League for the London side.
He’s competing with the American international Antonee Robinson and that was always going to be a tough battle. The manager Marco Silva has been rather stubborn as well, even opting for Timothy Castagne on the left in one game. Naturally, it begs the question if Ballo-Toure would have been better off staying at Milan this season.
However, the 26-year-old did play the full 90 minutes against Ipswich (3-1 win) in the EFL Cup. Once again, he was praised by the fans afterwards and some of them have criticised Silva for being too loyal to Robinson, who hasn’t been perfect since the start of the season. At the very least, they want the new arrival to get a proper chance.
The chant “What's the story Ballo-Toure” - inspired by the famous Oasis song - has grown in popularity and it remains to be seen if Silva will give him a chance in the upcoming weeks.
