When it became clear that Milan would be signing Alvaro Morata as their new No.9 - although he ended up taking the No.7 - a majority of the fans had the same thought. To paraphrase, “he’s not a prolific goalscorer, but he will be a very healthy player for the team through hard work and assists”. While the jury is out on that prediction, one thing is clear.
Indeed, as Morata found the back of the net for the first time with the red and black shirt, we immediately got to see what makes him the champion he is. Running after the ball, almost ending up in a fight with Adrien Tameze, might seem like a trivial act to most and to a large extent, it is. Yet, this combined with his words after the game proved exactly why we are right to be optimistic about this signing.
