Player Ratings Big Data: Full list for the 2024-25 season [Bonus Article]

It’s that time of the year again! After another season of doing the player ratings for every single game, which wasn’t that fun this time around, I have compiled the data to name the best and worst players of the season. I have also highlighted the best and worst ratings that were handed out in single games, along with a few other things. So let’s dive in!

First and foremost, I have to clarify the nature of these ratings. Had I sat down to evaluate each player based on the season as a whole, the ratings would have been very different. Given that the ratings are based on every single performance, simply taking the average of the total, there is little room for nuance and it’s all very black and white which, admittedly, isn’t ideal for season evaluations.

Mike Maignan, for example, made far too many silly mistakes/howlers this season and since he’s a goalkeeper, you could definitely argue that it should affect the overall rating rather significantly. When doing the average, however, the lows (which were reflected in the ratings, trust me) are compensated by many decent performances and some very good ones. He did, after all, get the MOTM award five times.

With all of the above in mind, you should probably take the ratings below with a grain of salt. The players that failed to get at least five ratings have been crossed out, seeing as the score isn’t exactly reliable, and it’s also worth taking a look at the number of ratings for the other players. The more ratings given, the harder it is (generally) to amass a high average score, which should be taken into account.
