I read something quite interesting during one of my shifts recently, I think it was Saturday, regarding the overall strategy of Gerry Cardinale and Roma’s owner Dan Friedkin. Perhaps it was a bit of a lazy comparison by Gazzetta dello Sport, but the overall sentiment of the news segment was valid: Milan and Roma are not just prioritising European competition for the direct revenue, but also the indirect revenue streams that can be exploited.
This is hardly anything new, of course, but it at least got me thinking about the direction Milan are heading. Based on a few reports that I have browsed through this evening, while the Rossoneri are among the most popular clubs in the United States, Serie A is behind the other leagues when it comes to viewership in ditto. Premier League and Liga MX are the two heavy hitters, but even the Bundesliga and La Liga appear to be ahead of Serie A.
