Scudetto fever and three crucial games - Milan continue their pursuit
AC Milan secured three crucial points against Fiorentina and now have just three games left of the season. The enthusiasm has skyrocketed and the Rossoneri can expect amazing support from their fans in this finale. That, among other things, we take a look at in this week’s edition.
Fans’ enthusiasm through the roof…
We saw it against Lazio away, against Fiorentina at home and now also Hellas Verona away. In fact, there will be around 16k fans at Stadio Bentegodi for the latter clash on Sunday evening, which is half of the stadium’s capacity. It will feel like a home game for the Rossoneri players, in other words.
Given that Milan haven’t won a Scudetto since 2011, it’s not exactly strange that the enthusiasm among the fans is through the roof. However, few perhaps expected this amazing support and it’s clear that, should Milan win the Scudetto, they have their 12th man to thank for it. No doubt.
The game against Atalanta is also more or less sold out and still, fans are trying to get tickets for the game. The season finale, or should I say the final three games, promises to deliver some great entertainment both on the pitch and also in the stands.
Latest news…
➤ Investcorp are still working on the takeover of Milan and the latest reports suggest that they will put down €800m of their own funds, while the remaining €400m will be financed by Goldman Sachs and JP Morgan. We will have to wait a few more days for the signatures, as per the report, but there is nothing to worry about.
➤ Renato Sanches is once again being heavily linked with a move to Milan and various reports suggest that the price tag will be around €18m, perhaps even as low as €15m. He’s the primary target to replace Franck Kessie, who has decided to leave on a free transfer to join Barcelona.
➤ Alessandro Florenzi is once again working with the ball at Milanello and his return appears to be close. Perhaps already for the game against Hellas Verona, even if it would mean just sitting on the bench. It’s clear that he will be available for the last two games, though. As for Zlatan Ibrahimovic, he’s carrying out a personal program to be at his best during the games.
Three games remain…
With a two-point lead on Inter, Milan are facing the three most important games they have played since the last Scudetto season, probably. It won’t be easy for them, but the Fiorentina win has given them a confidence boost ahead of what’s to come. Nevertheless, they need to remain focused.
They can afford to draw one game but must win the other two to clinch the Scudetto, provided that Inter win all of their games. It’s a season finale that certainly will be nerve-racking to follow from a Milan perspective and we can only hope that it will go our way. Forza Milan!
