We didn't see this coming [Bonus Article]
I was scrolling through Twitter earlier today - as you do - when I spotted a report from La Repubblica, more specifically from the journalist Enrico Currò. Truth be told, most of the reports I see on the Twitter feed don’t get a second thought but knowing how anti-Milan this journalist is, I had no choice but to delve deeper. Is Zlatan Ibrahimovic already on bad terms with RedBird? Did he push Ignazio Abate’s father out the door?
As you can tell, these are quite serious claims and you could even go as far as to call them accusations. I’m sure Currò told himself something along the lines of “I’m doing this for the greater good of journalism” when, in truth, it was just another hit piece poorly disguised as the former. Then again, I decided to give the report a second thought and, together with our editorial staff, dug deeper for the truth.
As much as we would like to give a black-or-white answer, the situation is much more nuanced and deserves a proper explanation. Currò’s article may have painted a dramatic picture but a lot of details were left out, just as some of them were completely incorrect. Having said that, even a broken clock is correct twice a day and there’s an element of that here.
