An updated summary of San Donato [Bonus article]
AC Milan’s stadium pursuit continues and everything seems to suggest that they have chosen the San Donato area for their new home. Therefore, we have decided to update our bonus article from April (read here) with some new information below. Indeed, it could be the perfect home for the Rossoneri.
Where is San Francesco?
The area that Milan are interested in is called San Francesco and lies within the San Donato jurisdiction. It’s located south of the Milano city centre but, and this cannot be understated, it’s very close to the city. The perk of moving outside the city limits isn’t just the ability to get a big stadium site, but also the fact that the Milano city council won’t be involved.
Instead, Milan will be (and already are) dealing with the city council of San Donato. The council operates with a civic list system, which briefly means that the council members are not elected on behalf of a political party. This also means the members are unlikely to turn down the project just because of their political views - which has been the case within Milano.
