The summer mercato is fast approaching and many AC Milan fans are wondering what the transfer budget will be. While there are several factors that need to be determined still, such as the top-four race, we have attempted to make a forecast down below.
First of all, as alluded to above, the following projections are indeed dependent on several factors and we cannot make a definitive estimate just yet. However, we can paint a scenario and use this season’s figures to understand roughly how much spending room Milan will have this summer.
The Rossoneri closed their balance sheet for 2021/22 with a loss of €67m, €30m less than the previous year, and that was a huge success for the club. But we can already safely say that this season, 2022/23 that is, will beat that figure comfortably as Milan are heading for a profit for the first time since 2006.
UPDATE: We have published a new version of the mercato figures and you can find that bonus article here.
